If you’re computer savvy and has lots of experience on computers but dont have a job, then you might want to look for a telecommuting job where you can work from home 8 hours a day.  There are a lot of companies today in the US offering jobs that you can do at home that can save them a lot of money on overhead/operations costs. Telecommuting has become a trend and many are adapting this for economic reasons.

I for one is a benefactor of a work from home job.  If you are planning to earn one, then there are a few things you will have to consider to make sure it is going to be a fruitful one. You have to remember that paid-to-click/paid-to-read jobs are not as fruitful as 8-hour jobs so don’t rely on them. You can have them as sidejobs instead.

Here are some of my tips:

1. Look for a company that offers a full-time work at home schedule. Be aware however that some companies require that you work for some time reporting to their office before they allow you to work from home. It’s called earning their trust.

2. Some work from home jobs require you to work even on weekends. Make sure that you clear this out with your employer first before you sign your employment contract. Otherwise you might be working 7 days a week against your will.. :P

3. If you are already a tenure employee in your company and your job description does not require any field or offsite visits, you can request your employer to allow you to work from home instead. You will however need to specify your reasons and explain to them the benefits of allowing you to work from home.
